About Me

Patsy Edmonds BA (Hons), FdSc Integrative Counselling. MBACP Accredited.

Counsellor and Psychotherapist working in Woking and Guildford

I qualified as a general and psychiatric nurse in South Africa and I have over 12 years nursing experience working in acute and chronic mental health hospitals. My time as a counsellor and working as a psychiatric nurse in the past has exposed me to the harsh realities/issues that a person can experience, due to death, divorce, redundancy, abuse, illness, relationships, low self-esteem, stress, anxiety, depression and addiction. This has given me an understanding of the reasons why you may be seeking counselling.

I am a practicing addiction counsellor at Catalyst, providing support for people dealing with the challenges of their drug and alcohol use. These problems can be a response to various past traumas, anxiety and depression. I offer help and assistance to people to make changes, using their own resources to deal with their experiences. Drugs and alcohol do not only affect the ones that are using them, but also those who love them, therefore I provide support for their families, carers and friends who may have been affected by the addiction. My focus is to improve the relationship between the user and their family, carers and friends. My aim is to help them to deal with the issues surrounding the use of alcohol and drugs that may be causing them anxiety and depression.

I have worked at the Priory Hospital which specialises in the treatment of mental health conditions, where I ran group therapy, offering help and support for the most challenging cases of depression, anxiety and stress.

Counsellor and Psychotherapist working with Diversity

I have had the opportunity to counsel at a Christian counselling agency, Emmaus. This has given me the experience to offer confidential counselling and psychotherapy services for people who have needed help with personal problems, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual preference, culture or faith.

Employee Assistance Programme

I work for several Employee Assistance Programme providers, helping people to deal with anxiety, stress and depression including work issues. I provide short term counselling (6 sessions), on and off work site to increase motivation, improve employees wellbeing, increase stress awareness to reduce absences.

Can I be of help to you?

As part of my training in counselling, I had to find a counsellor and experience the process of counselling. This experience has given me an understanding of the fears and expectations that you may go through as you choose your therapist. I therefore invite you to visit my How I Work page with the hope that I will meet your expectations. For more information about the first session, please visit the FAQ’s page.

I look forward to hearing from you to discuss your counselling needs or a chance to find out if my way of working will suit you. This can be done on my Contact Me page, via email at a-time-to-heal@hotmail.com or by phone on 07437 449575.
